CHEK
Corrective Holistic Exercise Kinesiology
Many people walk around with chronic pain everyday. We Design individualized corrective exercise programs to fix your pain forever!
Why Are We So Successful?
IT ALL STARTS WITH YOU!
We utilize the most comprehensive assessment in the industry. Our typical assessments last two hours. Within that time frame we assess your static posture, your precise spinal curvature and pelvic tilt with equipment specially developed by the CHEK Institute.
Our next assessment phase is your case history of injuries, training experience, and your overall training objectives. Then we get to know you even better with our industry leading “Physiological Load Assessment”. This gives us a framework which allows us to determine the amount of physiological load your body is prepared to take on. We use this to avoid over-training, which is a common problem in the fitness world.
Then we perform a rehabilitation Range Of Motion (ROM) assessment. This is where we find all your tight spots that need attention.
Finally we assess your bio-motor abilities and strength balance in the primal movement patterns. This part of the assessment shows the level of development of your stabilizers and your nervous system. With all this detailed objective and subjective information about you, we prepare the perfect progression of exercises and lifestyle changes to get you strong, healthy and out of pain!
We meticulously monitor your progress while you correct all your bodies imbalances through corrective exercise. Your spinal curvature is re-evaluated at least every six weeks just to make sure you are making progress. By the time you are done with your program, you will be walking tall and stronger than ever.
Why are we obsessed with posture?
Posture is the position from which movement begins and ends. Your static posture tells us about your overall health and lifestyle. What we consider poor posture can have wide ranging negative health effects. Poor posture can cause blood flow restrictions to most of your organs. Every organ in your body will only operate at its optimum when you rest with perfect posture. Poor posture can also restrict blood flow return to your heart. Your entire cardiovascular system can be negatively affected by poor posture including blood pressure. This does not have to be permanent. You are not born with poor posture. Poor posture is not genetic. You develop it through habit. Don’t allow poor posture to slow down your life. Start our program and take control of your health.
What is Neutral Spine?
Neutral is the precise position in the middle of two extreme ranges of motion. So exactly in the center of flexion and extension. Why does this matter? A spine should rest in neutral to provide full range of motion in both directions. A spine resting in neutral allows for maximum rib cage expansion and maximum diaphragm contraction during breathing. Proper breathing patterns lead to optimum oxygen levels and optimum PH balance of the blood. The neutral position also allows for maximum rotation. Rotation is important in most sports and while running. Having access to your full range of spinal rotation will prevent injuries, improve your balance, and improve your sports performance. Your nervous system will only be optimal from a neutral spine because it provides the maximum space inside your vertebrae for your spinal cord. Your thinking should not be slow and nervous. Your breath should not be shallow and difficult. Start our programs and unlock your potential. Breath deep and relax like you have never felt before.
Evidence of Posture Affecting Strength and Performance
Posture has been the center of much controversy lately in the fitness industry. Posture not only affects human health and longevity, but it can affect your strength, flexibility, and overall athletic performance. You can hear the opinions of many fitness professionals, but one of the most successful strength coaches was the great Charles Poliquin. He trained some of the best Olympic athletes in the world and you can hear his opinion on posture below.
Why do we specialize in core training?
Your Pelvic Floor is part of a muscle group called the Inner Unit. The Inner Unit is a deep abdominal structure. The Inner Unit is the primary intrinsic stabilizer of your spine and pelvis. Inner Unit dysfunction can cause a number of painful problems including, low back pain, SI joint pain, hip pain, neck pain, knee pain, IT band pain, incontinence, and erectile dysfunction. Inner Unit dysfunction is common in America. These dysfunctions are often caused by sitting in chairs for extended times, inflammatory foods, and childbirth. Sit ups and crunches will not condition your Inner Unit. We are specialists in Pelvic Floor and Inner Unit training because it solves many of these common health problems. Having a belly hanging out in front of you is a sign of poor health. We will show you the easy way to flatten your belly and stop your back pain at the same time.
We will show you how to flatten your belly forever!
